Step Into A World of Awe And WonderĀ
Have you ever had an experience where you felt completely immersed in a sense of awe, connectednessĀ or oneness with your environment?
Here's how the American psychologist Abraham Maslow describes this kind of peak experience:
āDuring the peak experience, the individual experiences an expansion of self, a sense of unity, and meaningfulness in life. The experience lingers in one's consciousness and gives a sense of purpose, integration, self-determination and empathy.
The emotional reaction in the peak experience has a special flavour of wonder, of awe, of reverence, of humility and surrender before the experience as before something great.ā
What recent psychology research has found is that peak experiences exist on a spectrum and they are actually quite accessible.
They happen when we mindfully expand our awareness beyond the limitations of self-referential thinking and start to see ourselves ecologically as part of a living, breathing world all around us.
What Is Eco-Mindfulness?
Eco-mindfulness involves tapping into a deeper spiritual or nondual ecology where we feel immersed in effortless presence and intimately connected to the animate world that gives us life.
It's remarkably easy to practice as a form of mindful walking meditation where you shift from seeing individual objects to holistically seeing theĀ unifiedĀ landscape of awareness.
In this live online workshop, we will explore how to develop a practice of ecological mindfulness and the kinds of peak experiences that arise through embodied sensory immersion in theĀ natural world through 3 lenses:
1. Mysticism:
The experience of mystics across religions retreating to nature and why extended periods of unplugging in the natural world have such a transformative effect on our well-being.
2. Neuroscience:
The latest research into what happens in the brain during these nondual or self-transcendent experiences when we transcend self-referential thinking and feel connected to everything around us.
3. Psychology:
The latest psychology findings into how these nondual experiences provide an antidote to relieve the anxiety, self-consciousness and alienation of modern life.
Come on a journey of exploration and discovery in this online workshop into the practical science of nondual awareness and how peak experiences of awe, wonder and reverence can transform our lives.
You'll walk away with a simple method to practice effortless nondual awareness while walking outdoors to go beyond the mind's limiting beliefs and preconceptions to experience the "felt presence" of your immediate experience with childlike wonder.
